You’re trying to fit the same tech in a smaller space? That’s gonna be more expensive

When it's smaller it takes considerably more effort to fit everything in there, which increases the price

Also consider build difficulty. I have fat fingers and i cant build an itx build to save my life. I already have trouble with air coolers in atx builds.

Honestly I almost made this mistake when I was building my pc😭I thought ITX would cheaper but holy it was expensive especially here in SA where some of the parts I had to order so shipping brought the price up even more

Finally the question I've been asking before building another pc

I've turned my old HP Prodesk 400 G3 case to a gaming machine with a Ryzen 9 5900X 12-core CPU (Artic Silver 5 grease) and an MSI RTX4070 Ti Ventus 2X graphics card.
This HP case has crazy air circulation and the CPU cores don't get warmer than 39°C on colder days and 53°C @ full load. My pc lays flat in a closed TV cabinet, but when I'm gaming I open the front door so it can "breathe". I don't know why the core temperature don't skyrocket, but I'm more than happy with this build.
There is one thing I have to mention, I use two brand new case fans to cool my CPU with a max. of 4000RPM (never max'd out btw).

Yeaaa. If i ever build an itx. Its going in a car, and im hooking it up to every electronic. And of course water cooling it to save from vibrations, and i can use the wind outside to cool it

Pretty much, but it doesn't HAVE to be that much more. I built a m-ITX last year using the Thermaltake Core V1 case and it allows you to use an ATX PSU, 90mm tower cooler and doesn't need a riser cable. It's a big ITX case, but the only thing I had to spend the tax on was the mobo, which I got open box at Newegg.

mATX is just the best of both worlds. It's cheaper than either and offers all the benefits most people need from a full ATX in a form factor that fits in nearly every case, even some of small cute ones.
Yes ITX can go even smaller, but you are paying significantly more for it.
It's cheaper than both bigger and smaller motherboards, fits in many small cases and all larger cases. Has all the ports most people need

there is always a middle size that gonna be cheap if you go higher you end up spending more but if you go lower you also spend more

Personally, ATX parts on a micro ATX board is often cheaper while providing 99% of performance of ATX. I am willing to bet that over 90% people don't use more than one PCI slot or quad channel RAM or more than 2 storage solutions. Such set ups are not as upgradable as an ATX but right builds work well for significant time....

From cheapest to most expensive:
mATX < ATX < ITX < E-ATX
Last one usually used for HEDTs or workstations

Plus, you need to make sure your GPU AND CPU cooler fit. There’s alot more that goes into itx builds than just buying something and building it

if you want a SFF PC case that can use mATX parts, go with the im01 sama matx case. cheap, small asf, and can use 3 fan gpus and full matx motherboard. also can use a normal ATX PSU

Once the Micro Center near me opens up later this year, I plan on building an ITX PC because my PC takes up too much space and I don’t have the desk space for it.

and its mostly because the motherboard and power supply etc have to pack all the normal components into a smaller package which is more costly for the manufacturers to make them

Should I use DP or HDMI? Is either better than the other? Neither is a problem to use since I have a port on my monitor/gpu for each.

I went with ATX because of long term plans. Needed the second x16 slot for a passthrough GPU.

ATX/mATX generally has better airflow, more room to work with, etc etc. I have never built an ITX system so far, I don't see the need to pay the tiny parts tax.

Its because atx is the standard and is mass produced. Itx is becoming more common but its still conserded niche. Might cost less in materials but manufacturers still have to pay the same overhead and static costs, so the price needs to increase to make up for the reduced volume of sales.

I think the reason is that the smaller itx parts need to match up with the bigger atx parts so they have to make the parts small compact but strong

Just the same laptops are more expensive with a relatively same specs with a desktop. Miniature parts are definitely more expensive due to the technology used building them.

Basically in Electronics the smaller the thing is it's more difficult to make that's why it costs more

You get matx if you are trying to go cheap as possible. They are the cheapest cases and motherboards. It's been a long time since I've done any builds that are not micro atx

Honestly smaller case, smaller mobo, smaller power supply is always more expensive than anything ATX.

That's exactly why laptops cost even more because it has even less space and it has cooling challenges. Takes more effort to manufacture.
