  • ITX vs ATX Gaming PC (33)

    @eMKayyoUwhY9 дней назад +2

I've turned my old HP Prodesk 400 G3 case to a gaming machine with a Ryzen 9 5900X 12-core CPU (Artic Silver 5 grease) and an MSI RTX4070 Ti Ventus 2X graphics card.
This HP case has crazy air circulation and the CPU cores don't get warmer than 39°C on colder days and 53°C @ full load. My pc lays flat in a closed TV cabinet, but when I'm gaming I open the front door so it can "breathe". I don't know why the core temperature don't skyrocket, but I'm more than happy with this build.
There is one thing I have to mention, I use two brand new case fans to cool my CPU with a max. of 4000RPM (never max'd out btw).

Pretty much, but it doesn't HAVE to be that much more. I built a m-ITX last year using the Thermaltake Core V1 case and it allows you to use an ATX PSU, 90mm tower cooler and doesn't need a riser cable. It's a big ITX case, but the only thing I had to spend the tax on was the mobo, which I got open box at Newegg.

I am willing to bet that over 90% people don't use more than one PCI slot or quad channel RAM or more than 2 storage solutions. Such set ups are not as upgradable as an ATX but right builds work well for significant time....

Put the fps you get in Fortnite and other popular games in the description. It doesn’t even have to be at high settings. Zach has said this before, but the market for prebuilt PCs is mostly Fortnite kids that don’t actually know what makes a good pc, they think rgb + big fps number = good pc. Put the Fortnite settings down to low and see the fps. If you write “240fps in Fortnite” the Fortnite kids will think it’s a beast of a pc.

What are the disadvantages of ITX? ›

Decreased cooling capacity resulting in increased noise. Less SATA ports on mini boards. Less space to actually install storage within the case. Less USB ports on mini boards.

Is Mini-ITX motherboard good for gaming? ›

Can I use an ITX motherboard for a portable gaming system? Yes, ITX motherboards can be used for building portable gaming systems. Their compact size and power efficiency make them suitable for portable setups.

Does Mini-ITX affect performance? ›

Efficient cooling is more challenging to achieve in a Mini-ITX case, which can lead to thermal throttling and reduced performance under load. Additionally, Mini-ITX motherboards typically support only two RAM slots, limiting memory expansion.

Why is Mini-ITX so expensive? ›

Mini-ITX motherboards and cases often come at a premium due to their more compact design, while MicroATX components can be more budget-friendly.

Does Mini-ITX use less power? ›

Mini-ITX motherboards typically consume less than 100 watts of power, about 5 to 25 watts less than larger architectures.

Do Mini-ITX cases overheat? ›

Mini-ITX cases often have limited airflow compared to larger form factors, leading to potential thermal issues. Avoid using oversized components that may restrict airflow or cause overheating.

Can you game on Mini-ITX? ›

Powerful Performance

Despite their compact size, Mini-ITX PCs can house high-performance components, including the latest CPUs, graphics cards, and storage devices. This allows users to build powerful machines capable of handling demanding tasks, such as gaming, video editing, and 3D rendering.

Can Mini-ITX fit a graphics card? ›
