Mr. T is the youngest of his siblings. His father used to be a minister who left the family when Tureaud was only five years old, going his mother to raise him and his siblings. He grew very close to his mother, who kept him out of trouble.

Thus, the deciding school was not for him; Tureaud became a military policeman in the U.S. Army. Then again, after his short span in the military, Tureaud decided to try out for the Green Bay Packers. However, a sudden knee injury kept him away from making it into the team.
But what goes around comes around, as his days as a military policeman helped him gain a reputation as one of Chicago’s toughest bouncers, which frequently kept him in contact with celebrities. He began protecting stars like Diana Ross, Steve McQueen, and Muhammad Ali. He performed that job for almost ten years until a chance meeting with actor Sylvester Stallone in 1980 changed everything.
